The morning is so long.
I'll be very blunt. I am getting sick and tired of the "We are the Champions" theme song that's being played everyday after Morning Assembly. Other than the fact that the song is completely not 21st Century and too irritating in the morning, it indirectly fosters another sort of thinking in us.
We are the Champions--> We are the high and mighty--> We do the impossible--> We are better than you in every darn thing.
I don't know how many people realizes this. But, I think the school is trying to get us to act more pompous and proud. Of course, there is a certain amount of goodness in being proud of yourself and your school. It gives that much needed self-esteem and pride. But I think that what the "they have done has seriously crossed the line.
I would very well prefer a school based on merit; That's why they are gunning us that hard for the O levels this year.
I would like a school that has modern facilities and not run down village style.
I don't want a school branding itself.
It's wrong.
It's demeaning.
And people enroll themselves in it for all the wrong reasons.
Money can do wonders. But it cannot buy merit.
(The Math marks are back. Go check them out.)
Geography and Chemistry tests tomorrow. I think I can do well. =) Hey, I have done my revision; Just need to go over it again later on for one last time.
Maybe I will give writing poems a shot like what Dena did. Ha. But it sounded really poignant and all. Cheer up friend. =))
