O.o
I can't help but feel that every time I enter the network, I am on a mission assigned by IMF. No, it's not the International Monetary Fund but the Impossible Mission Force. It's actually some quack organization conjured by producers in the MI movies. What the heck.
Strangely, I get thrown off the network. Discarded. Flung out of the window. Kicked aside. It's irritating, especially when I am actually doing some decent work. Damn.
And because of that, I have completely forgotten what I intended to write. Blame the network.
I happened to chance upon this theory made by some psychologist lately.
According to her, there is NO such thing as love. But before I draw you into this conversation, let me ask you, what makes Man different from the other creatures that walk, fly and swim in this third rock from the Sun?
Be immature and say that we walk on 2 limbs instead of 4. But I can tell you that a kangaroo does so too. Other than the glaring fact that it actually hops, it is still, technically, on 2 limbs.
You say that we make tools and other creatures don't. Fine. But do you know that chimps use stones to crack open nuts? And recently, a footage revealed a chimp, an extremely violent and brilliant one, used a crude spear and killed its prey?
So...No. Just because we make guns that send people screaming and running for cover doesn't make us one notch above the rest. Hence...What makes us so special in the animal kingdom?
Maybe it's our higher level of intelligence? Yeah, stupid asses still crash planes into buildings. Stupid people in that county below us still chop down trees and "welcomed" the tsunami. If you must know, if those people didn't cut of the mangroves and all, the tsunami wouldn't had been that devastating. Also, they so happen to be pyro-maniacs. Prepare your masks people.
I think what makes us so "special" is because of our:
1)Politics-->Democracy! But I wonder why people still like brighter colours to duller ones. Hmm.
2)Culture--> You don't see cheetahs parading with that dead zebra in its mouth do you?
3)Innovative ability--> Let's close one eye to this.
Back to the main topic. This psychologist made a very bold claim: There is NO such thing as LOVE. Basically, Man is similar to other creatures in many aspects-Except for the few traits that I had pointed out. So, what became LOVE? This 4 letter word that makes me shudder and sob.
Ha. Apparently, she believes that there is no such thing as LOVE. Man, like other creatures are "attracted" to one another for ONE PURPOSE.
To put it nicely, it's to procreate. To reproduce, carry on the line, meet that distant 2.1 figure. As time went by, as people started killing each other with guns and grenades instead of sticks and stone, as AIDS became "mainstream" and Hepatitis being sidelined, people came up with a fancy terminology. LOVE. To put it straight and stop confusing you all, LOVE was coined to make us Man feel superior-Why am I not surprised. It basically made us feel more sophisticated. It made us "greater".
Do you agree with her?
Frankly, I don't quite totally agree with her theory. Maybe in the West, many Man will identify the motive of "LOVE" as the one I had stated earlier. But in the East where men use chopsticks, I think the whole idea of LOVE is really quite different. No, people still do it for sex. But maybe there is that fraction of bond...That attachment that holds? I mean, touch wood, something bad befalls on your loved one, you will stand by her right? I will.
What do you say?
