i wanna run. Again.
Perhaps this is an overstatement. Is it? What the hell.
I have rekindled my love for running. Yes. Running. I used to adore doing so in Primary School; just give me a big empty field, a couple of friends and we can run all day. But alas! These days, if someone saw me running about with willing parties in the open field, they would most probably be fishing out their phones and calling IMH. Things just get better and better when you age.
I managed to complete the 2.4km today and still have the energy to go for 1-2 even 3 laps more. I guess I miscalculated; I thought of going all out for the last lap but instead, I completed it without knowing. The teacher had to shout to get my attention. Gee, I was either too focused on something, or I was just distracted by the rain.
I think the essence of running is really simple.
1)Keeping your footing light: For example, instead of stomping about like a cyclops, try landing on the the tip of your foot. Like say, your toes. Of course I'm not asking you to land like a ballerina, that's murder, just keeping you footing light. You will be amazed by how far you can go. At least, I'm.
2)Keep your mind off the run: this is dumb-proof. It's not going to help when you finish a lap and think, god, there are 5 more laps= 2km=2000m. It may not seem that apparent now, but trust me, in the actual run itself, you continue drowning yourself in that idea, you will find it harder and harder to run. I guess it's plain psychology.
I got quite the stare from some other dude when I told Jose I could still go on. Hmm. Poor guy. Did he fail? I don't know. But I guessed I sort of earned this finish cause I actually woke up on Saturdays and Sundays to go run. It is weird yes, seeing those old ah peks and aunties staring at you, and you, madly puffing away. But anyway, that's running.
It's fun.
I got quite a pleasant surprise on the Bus 62 today; not with standing the fact that 3 62 buses drove past leisurely in the opposite bus-stop. I pity the souls who miss them.
But seriously, the experience on the bus was great. Haha.
I'm ending now. Dinner awaits. And I'm ravenous.
